  • Principal Investigator: J. Andrés Melendez, Ph.D. Independent honors thesis defining the inflammatory potential of DNA nanostructures mediated through oxidative stress; showed that SOD2 overexpression shifts basal gene signatures from an IL-1 response toward a TNF-α/MMP-1 response. Experimental design, RT-qPCR, RNA extraction, transfection, and quantitative data interpretation.

Paluh Lab, SUNY Albany (ABIO 399, Supervised Research)

  • Principal Investigator: Janet Paluh, Ph.D. Cardiac organoid engineering: tested protocol variations for consistent Elongating Multi-Lineage Organized Cardiac (EMLOC) gastruloid formation. Authored a whitepaper proposing a BMP4/VEGF co-differentiation strategy — shifting vascular induction to the aggregation stage — to achieve deep, functional vasculature without compromising neuro-cardiac integrity, with aims spanning titration screens, confocal and scRNA-seq assessment, and microfluidic validation of flow-driven maturation.

  • Certified trauma technician in a high-volume Level I trauma center: bedside care, BLS interventions, and trauma bay readiness alongside nurses, residents, and attendings during acute resuscitations.
